Test Tab

Use this tab to monitor applications on the the RTU. Normally, to monitor an application, you would export the Modbus register definitions to CSV format and then build a simple HMI using some type of software, or monitor registers in Telepace Studio directly.

On this tab, the PC Configuration Application automates that process and makes it easy to monitor applications on the RTU. It sends Modbus messages to the RTU to read and write register values. Status and control values are displayed in data grids. New control values can be written to registers on the RTU. User defined registers, where a configuration parameter holds the value of the register are also read and can optionally be written. If the application supports configuration via Modbus, then it is also possible to change the configuration of the application using this screen.

Select application

1. Select application
Use this area to choose an application to monitor. When you select and application, the Status, Control and User Configured areas will be updated with Modbus register values from the application's configuration.

Take special care to make sure the the Modbus addresses in the selected application configuration match the Modbus addresses in the application on the RTU. If there is a mismatch the wrong registers will be retrieved

Changes that are made to an application's configuration are not automatically reflected in the application's Modbus map. Deselected and reselect and application here to force and update of  the application's Modbus map and the all views on the Test Tab

Configure Polling

2. Configure Polling
Use this area to configure polling of the RTU. Use the dropdown box to select communications settings that were created on the Comm Settings tab. Click the Poll RTU button to start polling. Polling occurs continuously at the specified interval until the Stop Polling button is clicked or you navigate away from the Test tab.

Select the Comm Settings tab immediately beside the Polling tab to choose communications settings via a view that can be filtered and sorted. This tab is useful for the case where you have more settings than can easily be displayed in the drop down part of the button.

Polling retrieves all Status, Control, User Configured and Configuration registers continuously. Polling is done in an efficient fashion, with as few Modbus transactions as possible.
