Configuration Parameters

This area allows you to change the configuration of the application over Modbus. Configuration options are only shown if the application supports configuration and configuration is also enabled.

Read and understand how applications interact with Modbus before using this screen. See the Applications and Modbus section for more details.

Take special care to make sure the the Modbus addresses in the selected application configuration match the Modbus addresses in the application on the RTU. If there is a mismatch the wrong registers will be retrieved

Configuration Group Instances

1. Configuration Group Instances
Use this area to choose a configuration group instance to work with. Nothing will be shown in this area if no instances are configured to work with Modbus.
2

Read-Only Values

2. Read-Only Values
This area will show the read-only values of the selected configuration group instance. If the Export Configuration to Read Only Registers option is not checked for the configuration group instance, this area will be blank. Theses registers are updated once per second by the application in the RTU and will always reflect the current configuration of the application.
3

Configurable Values3. Confiurable Values

This area shows configuration values for the selected configuration group instance in writeable registers. This list will be empty if the Allow Configuration Changes via Modbus option is not selected for the configuration group instance.

Use the Copy Config to Registers button to copy the current configuration from the program to these registers. These registers are not updated automatically by the program because doing so might override user selections.

The Update Status section shows whether changes made via Modbus have been accepted.

Select a single parameter using the leftmost column to enable the Update Value section.
4

Update Value

4. Update Value
If the selected configuration group instance supports configuration via Modbus, and the selected Configurable Value is not a string parameter, this area allows changing the value via Modbus.

Use the Update Status value to verify that the instance was updated successfully. Also, if enabled, the values of the read-only registers should also change, because the read-only registers always show the current configuration. You can also check the application's change log to see that the value was changed successfully.

If validation errors occur, and it's not obvious why, make the same change to the application's configuration using the Apps tab. Meaningful error messages are provided when changing the configuration from inside the program, instead of over Modbus.
