Protection Settings

Protection Settings are used to shut the well in and disable automatic operation when an adverse condition is detected. When a protection condition is triggered, the control loop's control state will change to Protected. The Protection Reason status parameter will also be populated with the reason that protection was triggered, and a diagnostic log entry will be made.

The Protected state is entered immediately when once a protection condition is violated. There is no delay. For this reason it is important to set the thresholds such that they aren't falsely exceeded.

Once the Protected control state is entered, it can only be exited by sending a Reset command.

High Energy Protection

1. High Energy Protection
Check the Enable High Energy Protect option to enable protection when the calculated load ratio is less than the High Energy Limit.
2

Low Line Pressure

2. Low Line Pressure
Check the Enable Low Line Pressure Protect option to enable protection when the line pressure is less than the Low Line Press Limit.
3

High Line Pressure

3. High Line Pressure
Check the Enable High Line Pressure Protect option to enable protection when the line pressure is greater than the High Line Press Limit.
4

Very Early Arrival Protection

4. Very Early Arrival Protection
Check the Enable Very Early Arrival Protect option to enable protection when the plunger arrives very early. The very early threshold is set via the Very Early Arrival Time setting. Use the Consec Very Early Arrival Limit to set the number of consecutive very early arrivals that will trigger the protection. The number of consecutive very early arrivals must be greater than the value in Consec Very Early Arrival Limit for protection to be triggered.

The Very Early Arrival Time is only used for protection settings. It is not used during normal operation and if no early arrival protection is enabled.

Very Early Arrival Shut In

5. Very Early Arrival Shut In
Check the Enable Very Early Arrival Shut In option to force the control loop to shut the well in when the plunger arrives sooner than the Very Early Arrival Time. When enabled, and the plunger arrives very early, the sales valve will be closed and the control algorithm will move to the After Shut In Delay state.
6

No Arrival Protection

6. No Arrival Protection
Check the Enable No Arrival Protect option to enable protection when the plunger doesn't arrive. Use the Consec No Arrival Limit to set the number of consecutive no arrivals arrivals that will trigger the protection. The number of consecutive no arrivals must be greater than the value in Consec No Arrival Limit for protection to be triggered.

User Protection

7. User Protection
Use these settings to integrate protection from an external source, like ladder logic. If the Enable User Protection option is selected, the application will go into the protected mode when value in the User Protection Register is set to one. The User Protection Register is not used if the Enable User Protection option is not selected
