Gas Lift Control

Each gas lift control loop has control registers that accept commands when the application is running.

See the Applications and Modbus tab for some background information on SCADASuite and Modbus. You can always export the Modbus register map for the application to see an up to date list of what control parameters are available, which registers the information is in, and descriptions of the meaning of the information.

General Control Parameters for control loop 0 are shown in the screen grab below. Parameters that end with 0 apply to control loop 0. Parameters that end with 1 apply to control loop 1 and so on.

Do not rely on the screen grabs in this section for Modbus register addresses. The registers used will depend on your specific configuration and the version of the application. Always get the registers from Modbus CSV export.

Gas Lift Control Parameters
Gas Lift Control
1

Gas Lift Control Mode

1. Gas Lift Control Mode
Use this setting to select the control model for gas lift. The gas lift control loop must be enabled for this setting to have any effect.
2

Enable Injection Valve Override

2. Enable Injection Valve Override
Choose whether to enable or disable manual override of the injection valve position. If Enable Injection Valve Override is set to 1, the value from the Injection Valve Override parameter will be placed directly in the PID Output register, but only when injection is active.
3

Injection Valve Override Value

3. Injection Valve Override Value
When injection valve override is enabled the value from this parameter will be placed directly into the PID Output register, but only when injection is active. When override is not active, this register will be populated with the actual PID output. This allows for bumpless transfer when override is enabled.
4

Clamp

4. Clamp
Use the En Inj Flow Rate Clamp parameter to enable the injection flow rate clamp. When the clamp is enabled, the injection flow rate set point will not be allowed to exceed the Clamp Flow Rate, regardless of the Gas Lift Control Mode.
5

Reset Gas Lift Optimization

5. Reset Gas Lift Optimization
Set this parameter to re-initialize the pre-arrival optimization algorithm. Consecutive plunger arrival counts used for gas lift will be cleared and the optimized flow rate will be reseeded with the base value.
6

Gas Lift Control Override

6. Gas Lift Control Override
Use this setting to override the current gas lift control mode. When this is enabled, the Control Override Action will be undertaken, but only if the gas lift control loop is enabled. If the gas lift control loop is not enabled then this setting has no effect.
