Tank Simulator

Use the settings in this group to simulate changes in the fluid level for a tank. This allows you to test functionality without writing complicated logic in the RTU, and without having a tank and level sensor on hand.

Tank Simulator 00 settings are used for Tank Transaction 00, Tank Simulator 01 settings are used for Tank Transaction 01 and so on.

Simulation should be used with caution. When simulation is enabled accidentally, real values in Modbus registers could be overwritten, leading to undesirable operation.

Simulation settings can be reset by downloading the application's configuration to the RTU. No changes are required. Simply downloading the configuration is sufficient.

Enable Simulator

1. Enable Simulator
Use this setting to enable the simulator. Enable the simulator with caution. The simulator will write to Modbus registers. In a real application this could cause unintended operation.
2

Level

2. Level
Use these settings to simulate the fluid level in the associated tank. The Starting Level value is used to determine the value of the fluid level when simulation is first started. The Level Change per Minute value is used to configure how much the level changes each minute. The Level Noise value is used to add some noise to the level so that it more closely simulates a real level sensor. The noise is a percentage of the level value, so the absolute value of the noise increases as the level increases.

Transaction Coil

3. Transaction Coil
Use these settings to configure a coil that can be used to configure an alternate change in the level. The Transaction Coil setting is used to configure which Modbus register to use to trigger the change. When the register in the Transaction Coil setting is set to 1, the simulated level will change by the value in the Transaction Change per Minute parameter, instead of the Level Change per Minute parameter.
